Dear Good Project supporters,
We are asking for your help in hosting a special Yanomami woman in the United States. She lives deep in the Amazon rain forest. Her wealth of knowledge needs to be documented, shared and passed down to future generations so that we can raise awareness on protecting the Amazon rain forest. She is known around the world as Yarima. I know her as mother.
On my last expedition, my mother asked me to take her to the United States for an extended visit. She longs to walk in a world she left over 25 years ago. She longs to embrace her children and to meet her grandchildren. Her visit would be a happy ending to a long family history. However, its significance goes beyond a story of love and family. Yarima embodies the Amazon rain forest as she represents an age old society that lives in harmony with their environment. The Yanomami ancestral homelands are under attack from illegal gold mining, introduced diseases, and cultural loss. Just showing the world, through Yarima’s eyes, the importance of Yanomami culture can help us raise a global call to action to protect the rain forest and the people within.
This endeavor will require 2 expeditions, a large team, a timeline of 12 to 15 months, and expenses mounting to $135,000. We have a detailed budget and project itinerary and would be happy to share with you. Currently, we are raising funds and looking for sponsors to take part in bringing Yarima to the United States in the fall of 2018.

My sincerest thanks,
